Choose for the task

Screwdrivers, pliers, access tools and measuring tools do different work. This is a starter-tool overview with separate functional groups, not a ranking of fifteen interchangeable products. Start with the school or employer list and check what is already in the socket kits.

What to check before buying

The fixed-blade driver set and compact multi-bit driver overlap partly. Extensions may already be supplied with a socket kit. Specialist pry bars, picks and trim tools are useful when they prevent an unsuitable screwdriver being used to lever or extract a component.

Klein Tools 32500HD

32500HD impact-rated 11-in-1 screwdriver/nut driver

A multi-bit screwdriver and nut-driver tool for keeping common manual fastening options together. Check the included profiles and avoid applying it to fasteners that need a more suitable dedicated tool.

This is the 32500HD rather than the 32500HDRT ratcheting version or an insulated driver. The standard 1/2-inch nut-driver function is not described as an impact power nut driver.
