Choose for the task
A ball-joint press, tapered-stud separator, hub service kit and slide hammer solve different mechanical problems. The OTC 7249 supplies a C-frame and receivers for compatible press-fit parts; the 6297 separates a compatible ball joint from its support arm. The 6295 set already includes that separator, so choose the set for its broader jobs rather than automatically buying both. For supported wheel hubs and bearings, the 6575 uses its own application guide and adapter arrangements. The 4579 provides slide-hammer configurations where the vehicle procedure permits that method. The 6007 is a lower-control-arm pry-bar attachment, while the Lisle 51450 is an engine harmonic-damper puller. They belong in separate task groups, not a single strongest-tool ranking. Confirm the expected vehicles and operations before paying for a complete specialist case.
What to check before buying
Use the service procedure and the appropriate adapter drawings before applying force. Frame clearance, receiving surfaces, pressing direction and retention details all matter. A suspension category label does not qualify a tool for coil-spring or strut disassembly. The Hub Grappler guide described by OTC reaches model year 2018; confirm later applications separately. Vehicle support and stored-energy control remain independent requirements.
