The exact X4A configuration matters

The X4A in this directory is the headband model. Other X-series products and hard-hat configurations are separate choices, and their presence in a family photo does not make them interchangeable. The US manufacturer technical sheet lists NRR 27 dB for this configuration. Avoid substituting an overseas attenuation label without explaining the different rating system.

Noise assessment comes before a rating comparison

Workshop sound varies with the task, duration and surrounding equipment. A single NRR number does not determine whether an earmuff provides sufficient protection for that exposure. Follow the applicable workplace assessment and manufacturer fitting guidance rather than making a universal claim from the label. TradeGear HQ has not measured attenuation on wearers or monitored your workplace exposure.

A seal is part of the working equipment

Cushion contact can be affected by eyewear temples, hair, headwear and the way the headband is positioned. Check the complete worn arrangement, not each item in isolation. The DEWALT glasses may be appropriate for their eye-protection task, but their fit alongside the muffs still needs assessment. Repositioning the cups away from the ears for comfort defeats the intended use.

Maintenance rather than disposable assumptions

3M lists replaceable cushions and liners. Inspect and maintain them according to the instructions so ageing or damaged contact parts do not undermine fit. Keep the exact model information when ordering replacement hygiene components. Choose these muffs for the documented protection role; do not describe them as electronic communication or active noise-cancelling equipment without the corresponding product specification.
