The useful step above a code reader

Innova lists access to supported engine, transmission, ABS and SRS systems, alongside live-data graphing, recording and playback. This changes the diagnostic conversation: instead of only retrieving a generic engine code, you can investigate a supported module and compare values while the fault is present. The 5610 remains a vehicle-dependent aftermarket tool. Module access and individual data items need checking separately; a vehicle appearing in a broad compatibility list does not guarantee every function you want.

Active tests and service resets need their own check

The manufacturer describes bidirectional commands for supported components, including ABS pumps and fuel injectors, plus selected service resets and relearns. Those are different operations and may have different coverage on the same car. Ask about the precise job, such as an automated bleed or battery initialization, rather than simply whether the scanner supports that brand. Active tests need the correct vehicle conditions and safe working practice; commanding a component does not establish that an associated mechanical or wiring fault has been diagnosed.

A significant FCA secure-gateway limitation

Innova’s own FAQ says its handheld and dongle scanners cannot access AutoAuth. For affected 2018-and-newer FCA vehicles, functions such as clearing protected codes, oil resets and battery initialization can therefore be restricted. That is a material reason to choose a different tool if those cars make up the workload. The MK900-BT offers a different gateway proposition, subject to regional eligibility, active subscriptions and account requirements. Verify those before choosing it as the alternative; neither product name alone proves the required access.

Updates, the optional app and the buying decision

Innova states that updates are free and there are no subscriptions, and that RepairSolutions2 is optional. That can make the 5610 easier to budget than a scanner with annual coverage renewals. The app adds repair information rather than changing an unsupported vehicle into a supported one. Innova also restricts the product to its North American market, so check the intended region. For engine codes and readiness alone, compare the NT301 and AL519 before paying for broader functions you will not use.
