Rotation distinguishes the task
Some rear-disc designs require piston rotation rather than simple straight compression. Lisle describes the 28600 for supported rotating-piston applications, using a 3/8-inch ratchet and extension. Confirm that this is the required method before purchase. A tool labelled brake piston does not automatically perform the same operation as the 25750 dual-piston compressor.
Match the engagement face
The multiple faces provide different engagement possibilities, but not a universal application guarantee. Check the piston pattern, available space and the vehicle’s required rotation direction. Partial contact or a mismatched face can damage the piston features. If the correct connection cannot be established, choose the proper vehicle-suitable tool rather than forcing the nearest pattern.
Electronic parking brakes remain a separate question
An EPB-equipped vehicle may need a service mode before any mechanical retraction. The 28600 cannot command that function. Confirm the procedure and, where required, scanner coverage for the exact vehicle. The 5610 and MK900-BT must be compared at that individual function level, not simply by their advertised number of resets.
A small specialist within the brake kit
The compact form can be a useful addition where its supported applications recur, but it does not replace inspection, fluid handling or correct reassembly. The 81850 gauges and MV6840 bleeder serve different stages. For an apprentice, identify the caliper types used in the course or workshop before buying overlapping retractors and calling the collection complete.
