Check diameter and construction together
The stated fit is 2.5–3.125 inches across a compatible spin-on filter. That is a dimensional range, not a vehicle application list. Check the actual installed filter and the surrounding space. A cartridge housing with an external hex cap needs the appropriate socket profile rather than this jaw-style removal approach.
A 3/8-inch drive still needs room
The wrench uses a 3/8-inch square drive. Consider the combined length of the wrench, ratchet and any extension before assuming it can reach the filter from below. Nearby pipes, shields or crossmembers can prevent correct engagement even if the filter diameter is suitable. Choose the tool around the entire access path.
Removal is different from installation
The steel jaws are intended to grip for removal. Do not use them to apply an invented tightening force to a new filter. Follow the filter and vehicle instructions for installation, sealing-surface preparation and final checks. A tool that helps remove a stubborn old filter does not establish the correct installation torque or hand-tightening method.
Compare the adjacent sizes and cap sockets
Lisle 63250 covers larger spin-on diameters, while 13270 provides low-profile hex sockets for compatible filter caps. Those choices are separated by filter geometry, not by a general quality ranking. Buy the smallest selection that fits the serviced vehicles, and arrange used-fluid capture before removal so access to the tool does not create a spill problem.
