Reach is the reason for the telescoping form
Ullman lists a 7.25–33.75-inch length range. That allows a compact stored tool to reach into a space that a hand cannot easily enter. Check whether the path is sufficiently clear to place and withdraw the magnet without disturbing wiring or adjacent components. Length alone does not create a safe retrieval path.
Understand the pickup claim
The manufacturer describes up to five pounds of lift, subject in practice to the object and contact conditions. A flat clean ferrous contact is different from a small oily bolt head touching at an angle. Do not translate the claim into a general load-handling rating. Use a suitable method for any component whose fall could cause harm.
POWERCAP is an access detail
The sliding sleeve helps manage how the magnet approaches a target among surrounding metal. It does not make non-ferrous material magnetic or guarantee that the desired part is the only object attracted. Locate the item first, and consider whether magnetic retrieval is appropriate for the surrounding components and the vehicle procedure.
Pair retrieval with viewing and light
The HTC-2 mirror and Streamlight penlight can help locate a dropped item before reaching for it. They solve different parts of the same problem, which is why the toolkit can reuse each independently. Confirm the exact HT-2 model when ordering rather than substituting a shorter pickup tool because the family name or handle looks familiar.
