Quick picks

Choose by the task. Read the detailed buying assessment and available full reviews before checking the retailer offer.

A jigsaw is for supported curves and cut-outs, not a substitute for every straight panel cut. A quoted speed or owner’s accuracy claim does not establish a square finished edge.

HOW TO CHOOSE

What matters for the work

Choose your grip at the workpiece

A top handle puts the trigger above the shoe; a barrel grip brings the hand closer to the body. Neither arrangement is automatically more accurate. Check switch reach, the fitted battery and the approach permitted by the manual before changing format.

Blade and finish before cutting speed

T-shank fit, blade length, tooth direction and material suitability matter. Orbital action trades cut behavior against finish; trial cuts on matching offcuts can reveal tear-out and blade deflection before an exposed cabinet panel is committed.

Buy for the recurring cut-out

An apprentice with occasional fitting work may already be covered by the existing DCS334B or corded JS470E shortlist. Add a second format only for a clear access, grip or platform reason. Battery, charger, blades and any extraction adapter belong in the same budget.
