Start with the specified framing nail
DCN920B is the newer 21-degree plastic-collated framing option in this catalogue. Its role is different from a brad or finish nailer: the actual connection determines the nail head, shank, diameter, length and coating required. Confirm those requirements against the tool manual and offered nails before ordering. Neither cordless convenience nor successful sinking of a nail establishes the suitability of a structural connection.
Freedom from a hose has a cost
For scattered framing tasks or repairs, removing compressor and hose setup can be useful. For repeated accessible production, an existing pneumatic station may already be economical. Compare the fitted battery and loaded tool, not just the bare-body offer. DeWalt’s performance claims have stated test conditions; we have not compared firing consistency, jam frequency or fatigue against the pneumatic NR90AES1 or Milwaukee alternative.
Keep the comparison within the job
Milwaukee 2745-20 uses a different nail collation and battery system. Compare it only when its supported fastener format fits the same approved task. The B configuration excludes power equipment. An apprentice should establish what the crew supplies and whether a personal framing nailer is expected before buying. Allow for suitable nails, charging and task training rather than spending the whole budget on the tool body.
