Grinding is one part of edge care
DW756 provides a fixed six-inch grinding format, which can serve appropriate workshop maintenance tasks. It should not be presented as a complete chisel-sharpening solution. Establish the permitted wheel and edge-maintenance method first; grinding a shape and finishing a cutting edge are different stages. For a carpenter mainly fitting finished trim onsite, a bench grinder can be a low-priority purchase compared with the tools that do the daily job.
Set up the whole grinding position
DeWalt documents a 3,450 RPM induction motor, adjustable rests and a cast-iron base. Mount and configure the machine according to the manual, including wheel compatibility and protective arrangements. Do not assume a shield replaces required eye protection or that a powerful grinder prevents heat damage to a cutting edge. We have not measured vibration or edge temperatures; customer comments about smooth running reflect their particular machines and mounting.
Value depends on the maintenance routine
A workshop maintaining suitable tools repeatedly may justify a fixed station with compatible wheels and a finishing method. An apprentice with only occasional edge work should learn the required process before buying powered grinding equipment. The manufacturer’s small, mixed customer sample includes both positive running reports and problems, so the rating is shown as source feedback rather than our reliability score. Include mounting, accessories and subsequent honing where needed in the total cost.
