Where it fits in a carpenter kit
Makita RT0701C is the corded compact-router model with a quarter-inch collet and variable speed from 10,000 to 30,000 RPM. Makita documents rack-and-pinion fine depth adjustment and a straight guide in the package. The model should be distinguished from RT0701CX7 and other base kits: a photograph of an extra attachment is not evidence that this basic configuration includes it. Check the actual supported bit and work requirement first.
Configuration and alternatives
Compare it with DWP611 for the adjustment, lighting and accessory arrangement you prefer, rather than assuming the same maximum-horsepower label means identical behavior. Existing LXT owners can consider XTR01Z if movement warrants battery power. A plunge operation needs the appropriate base and permitted method; buying the cheaper fixed setup can be false economy when it cannot cover the repeated job. Conversely, paying for several bases at apprenticeship stage makes little sense without identified work for them.
Spend on a complete working setup
Start with the routing operations and compatible bits, then price the complete base and guidance arrangement. Corded compact equipment can be sufficient at a powered bench, while existing battery ownership can favor mobile work. A larger combo is worth considering when fixed and plunge operations recur. Accessories, workholding and dust connections can matter more to the finished job than another maximum-horsepower label on the motor.
