Where it fits in a carpenter kit
Makita XTR01Z is the LXT compact-router alternative with a documented 10,000 to 30,000 RPM speed range and rack-and-pinion depth adjustment. It addresses supported mobile routing for a buyer who already has suitable LXT power equipment. LXT is distinct from Makita's XGT battery family. The Z listing excludes batteries and charging, and the supported base arrangement should be checked before assuming every routing attachment is included.
Configuration and alternatives
RT0701C is the corded comparison when suitable power is available; the Bosch combo addresses a different fixed-and-plunge requirement. Ask which edge profiles, shank sizes and guided cuts recur before buying a more elaborate kit. An apprentice doing only occasional edge work may benefit more from appropriate bits and workholding than from another battery platform. Published runtime improvements remain manufacturer claims; we have not measured routing endurance or finish quality between these models.
Spend on a complete working setup
Start with the routing operations and compatible bits, then price the complete base and guidance arrangement. Corded compact equipment can be sufficient at a powered bench, while existing battery ownership can favor mobile work. A larger combo is worth considering when fixed and plunge operations recur. Accessories, workholding and dust connections can matter more to the finished job than another maximum-horsepower label on the motor.
