A drilling-oriented carpenter kit

2904-20 is the conventional M18 half-inch hammer drill/driver. It is worth comparing when the recurring supported drilling work and existing power system point toward M18. Cabinet access can favor another format, and unusually large holes may require a different drill. Start with the bit diameter and material rather than allowing maximum-torque advertising to define the job.

The working envelope matters

The body is only part of the size you bring to the work. The fitted battery and accessory contribute to clearance and handling. Use the mode and controls appropriate to the material and fastener, and read the documented capacities. We have not measured kickback behavior, endurance or drilling speed against the compact models, so it is not presented as a performance winner.

When the larger platform is worthwhile

An existing M18 kit can avoid duplicate power equipment. If suitable pilot holes and light assembly are the entire role, 3404-20 or a controlled installation format may be sufficient instead. Customer feedback about power and versatility should be read as experience in the jobs described. The -20 purchase still needs a compatible battery and charger, regardless of a review originally posted on a kit page.
