Separate screening from confirmation
A non-invasive scan helps select an area to investigate. Pin measurements need appropriate contact and material interpretation. Keep the two roles distinct in the report.
Record what was measured
Include location, material, instrument mode and surrounding observations. Comparison with a suitable reference area is more meaningful than an unexplained number.
Choose the recurring material
Wood, drywall and other building materials need different interpretation. A wood-specialist instrument is not automatically the best general building meter.
